Preservé is Motiva’s next-generation, tissue-preserving approach to breast augmentation. Instead of creating a large pocket and disrupting the breast’s natural structure, the technique works with your anatomy — gently elongating the native tissues to cradle a Motiva SmoothSilk® Ergonomix2® implant.
The aim is a natural-looking result through a small incision; how quickly you recover varies from person to person. How Motiva Preservé works
Preservé combines the SmoothSilk Ergonomix2 implant with three purpose-built Motiva instruments, allowing Professor Hindocha to place the implant while conserving your breast’s natural anatomy.
Gentle tunnelling
Using the Motiva Channel Separator, a precise channel is created without the wider cutting through tissue that traditional techniques rely on.
Controlled tissue elongation
A Motiva Inflatable Balloon gently expands the space, elongating your own tissue to form a bespoke pocket shaped precisely around the implant.
Atraumatic placement
The implant is delivered through a small incision using the Motiva Insertion Sleeve, protecting both the device and your natural tissue.

What is Motiva Preservé?
Preservé is a minimally invasive breast augmentation technique developed by Motiva. It combines the SmoothSilk Ergonomix2 implant with purpose-built instruments to place the implant while preserving your natural breast tissue, shape and sensation — with smaller scars and a quicker recovery than traditional augmentation.
How is Preservé different from traditional breast augmentation?
Traditional augmentation creates a pocket by cutting through tissue. Preservé instead elongates your own tissue to cradle the implant, reducing trauma and helping preserve sensation. Read our full Preservé vs traditional breast augmentation comparison.
What are the risks of Preservé?
The risks of any breast implant surgery: scarring, capsular contracture, rupture or rippling, changes in nipple or breast sensation, infection or bleeding, the need for further surgery, and BIA-ALCL, a rare lymphoma linked to some implants. Motiva describes Preservé as designed to lower some of these; that is the manufacturer’s claim and it does not remove any of them. Professor Hindocha goes through each at consultation.
How long is recovery after Preservé?

What is the scar like after Motiva Preservé?
One scar of about 2.5 to 3 cm in the fold under each breast. It is red at first and fades over months, though it never disappears completely. How visible it ends up depends on your skin and how you heal.
Can I see Motiva Preservé before and after photos?

Is Motiva Preservé over or under the muscle?
In front of it. The implant sits above the chest muscle, which is not divided. That is one reason the operation can be done under local anaesthetic.
Can I have Preservé with a breast lift?
Preservé on its own does not lift. Where a lift is also needed, Professor Hindocha can combine the Preservé augmentation with an uplift in one operation, or suggest a conventional augmentation with a lift. Who Preservé suits explains the difference.
How long do Preservé implants take to settle?
Swelling settles over the first few weeks and the final shape takes months. The NHS says breast implants are not lifetime devices and many need replacing after about ten years.
