What to expect

Motiva Preservé Recovery

Because Preservé is minimally invasive and preserves your natural tissue, many patients recover more comfortably and more quickly than with traditional breast augmentation. Here is a realistic week-by-week guide.

The Preservé technique elongates your own tissue rather than dividing it, which means less trauma and, for most people, a smoother recovery. Everyone heals differently, so treat this as a guide — your personalised plan comes from Professor Hindocha.

First 48 hours

Rest and settle

Expect some tightness, mild soreness and swelling, managed with prescribed pain relief. You will be up and gently moving the same day, wearing a supportive garment. Most Preservé procedures are performed as a day case.

First week

Early healing

Discomfort eases noticeably. Many patients return to light, desk-based activity within a few days to a week. Sleep on your back, slightly elevated, and attend your first follow-up.

Weeks 2–3

Getting back to normal

Swelling continues to settle and you will feel much more like yourself. Most daily activities and light work resume, while strenuous exercise and heavy lifting are still avoided.

Weeks 4–6

Returning to activity

Many patients gradually return to exercise around four to six weeks, guided by Professor Hindocha. Scars are maturing and your shape is settling.

Beyond 6 weeks

Your final result

Your breasts settle into their final shape over the following weeks and months, and scars continue to fade. Attend your review appointments so healing can be monitored.

Aftercare that supports recovery

  • Wear your support garment exactly as advised
  • Take gentle, regular walks to aid circulation
  • Sleep on your back, slightly elevated, in the early weeks
  • Keep incisions clean and dry; follow wound-care advice
  • Avoid smoking, which slows healing
  • Attend every follow-up appointment

When to contact the clinic

Your care team is available throughout recovery. Contact the clinic promptly if you notice increasing pain, spreading redness, unusual swelling, a high temperature, or anything that concerns you. Prompt advice is always better than worrying.

Preservé’s less invasive approach is one reason many patients describe an easier recovery — see how it compares on our Preservé vs traditional augmentation page.

Recovery questions

Preservé recovery FAQs

How long does Preservé recovery take?

Most patients resume light activities within a few days to a week and return to exercise around four to six weeks. Because the technique is minimally invasive, recovery is often quicker than traditional augmentation, though healing is individual.

When can I return to work?

Many people with desk-based roles return within a few days to a week. If your work is physically demanding, you may need longer — Professor Hindocha will advise based on your recovery.

When can I exercise or return to the gym?

Gentle walking is encouraged early on. More strenuous exercise and heavy lifting are usually reintroduced from around four to six weeks, following your surgeon’s guidance.

Will my scars be small?

Preservé uses a smaller incision than traditional augmentation typically requires, and scars continue to fade over the months following surgery.
